Nicoya Peninsula

The Southern Nicoya Peninsula is a make-up of Paquera, Tambor, Cobano,Montezuma, Delicias, Cabuya, Mal Pais, Playa Carmen, SantaTeresa and the Manzanillo area. Each Southern Nicoya Community hasit's own distinct flavor.

Unlike other beach communities in Costa Rica this area is free fromover development both commercially and residentially.

With its eclecticgroup of people and cultures it easy to see the rich and famous orcelebrity type enjoying the same beaches and dining in the samerestaurants as backpackers.

Cabuya

Cabuya is a small community, ideal to relax and enjoy the nature: due to its proximity to the shore, freshwater rivers, jungle and mountains, dozens of species can be seen. Two of it's principal rivers are Miguelon and Lajas, which are great swimming spots.
The entrance to Cabo Blanco Park, the first National park in Costa Rica is at the far end of the village.
Hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, surfing among other nature related activities are also available.
Cabuya is the only town in Costa Rica that have its cemetery on an otherwise deserted island. The villagers can cross to the island at low tide where a path is exposed as the sea recedes.
The shores of the island are mostly rocky, but offer great snorkeling and fishing.
